AxisBIC presents International Venture Academy 2010
16th Nov 2010 – AxisBIC and the Business Angel Partnership announced the AxisBIC International Entrepreneurship Venture Academy 2010 will take place on Thursday 25th November 2010 in the Clarion Hotel, Cork. This coaching day will give chosen start-ups the opportunity to gain intensive handholding and feedback from seasoned Entrepreneurs focussing on their investor readiness. Bill Liao, business coach, author, entrepreneur, philanthropist and diplomat will deliver the keynote speech and will be on hand to give invaluable advice to budding entrepreneurs.
To date over 60 deals have been completed in Ireland by the Business Angel Partnership resulting in excess of €20million being invested in Irish start-ups. The majority of this is seed investment from Irish private equity individuals and syndicates with a small proportion coming from the International Business Angel community including France, China, Holland and the US.
Each start-up will be given coaching on investor readiness, pitch presentation, their proposition and business plan from investors, International Business Angels, and successful Entrepreneurs. Keynote speeches will be delivered by Bill Liao and Juliana Garaizar. Bill Liao, a veteran Entrepreneur and co-founder of the social networking service XING, is an experienced business coach currently mentoring many start-up companies to success. Juliana Garaizar runs the highly successful Sophia Business Angels network in the south of France. Ms. Garaizar has extensive experience in venture capital and global start-ups and was previoulsy Project Manager for the Asia Technology office of Citigroup.
"There is a vibrant private equity market emerging in Ireland and even though we are in a recession, a small group of high net-worth individuals who have an appetite for risk and have cash are looking for investment. As a result the Business Angel Partnership is on course to do over 20 deals this year” commented Michael O’Connor, CEO, AxisBIC. He went on to say “The Venture Academy is based on a proven International format in getting start-ups investor ready and addressing the requirements of Angel investors.”
