EU Projects
AxisBIC has participated in many EU projects, Initiatives, Events and Programmes over the years. EU projects can offer significant financial supports, extensive networking opportunities, and access to cutting-edge facilities and expertise across diverse sectors and countries.
AxisBIC supports our clients by leveraging EU project involvement for diverse opportunities, including accessing international networks, funding, and expertise to scale businesses and foster economic growth. As a member of EBN, AxisBIC provides a global network of partners and investors, ready to work with Irish startups on internationalisation and enabling access to EU funding & grants like the European Innovation Council (EIC) and Horizon Europe Funding
Currently the AxisBIC team are actively participating in the following EU Projects and initiatives:
- Seeds of Bravery, a €20 million project funded by the European Union under the European Innovation Council (EIC) to support Ukrainian tech startups bringing them closer to the EU. (2023-2026)
- SaferSea – which aims to contribute to the development of a safer, eco-friendly maritime sector (2023-2026) The SaferSEA project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg Atlantic Area programme.
- EU|LAC Innovation Cooperation – funded by the EU Commission, the EU-LAC Initiative aims to foster collaboration among innovators to tackle shared challenges related to sustainable development and strengthen the EU’s presence in Latin America & the Caribbean.
Key to AxisBIC involvement in EU Projects is our certification as an EU|BIC and member of EBN, the European Business & Innovation Centre Network.
AxisBIC is also a member and plays an acitve role in EBAN – The European Trade Association for Business Angels, Seed Funds and Early Stage Market Players.
AxisBIC and EBAN have collaborated on many initiatives and events, most importantly hosting the EBAN annual Congress in Cork.
Previous EU projects, Initiatives, Events and Programmes include:
- AxisBIC hosted the 2022 EBAN Annual Congress in Cork – where we welcomed 350 business angels, entrepreneurs, VCs and business leaders for the two-day EBAN Cork Annual Congress at Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh
- EBAN Cork 2022 kicked off with speeches from Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence; and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. The EBAN Congress is one of the largest angel congress in the world and was the first major European Conference in Cork after the pandemic.
- AT Virtual – EU Funded Interreg Project which aimed to accelerate the digitalization of Maritime Safety Training Centres in the Atlantic Area (Ended 2023)
- In 2015 AxisBIC worked with many local ecosystem partners like Enterprise Ireland, Cork Chamber, UCC, MTU and the LEOs on The Startup Gathering and AxisBIC organised and co-hosted the Startup Cork Dinner
- AxisBIC was one of key partners who organised the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Startup Nations event in Cork in 2016 with over 500 attendees. The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) operates in 200 countries, fostering deeper cross-border collaboration between founders, investors, policymakers, ecosystem builders and others. In particular AxisBIC organised the Global Investor Challenge on Spike Island & the Pitch Final at the GEN Startup Nations Summit Dinner in Cork County Hall.
- INSPIRE YoWUp was a two year project (2013-2015) in which AxisBIC was a key partner of the Inspire YoWUp team.The objective of the project was to adapt and develop an innovative training package on entrepreneurship skills targeting women and also unemployed and young people to be tested and evaluated by the target groups. This project was funded by the EU Commission
